Metaficción y distopía en Nutshellde Ian McEwan

Abstract

La novela elegida de Ian McEwan, Nutshell (2016)[Cáscara de nuez],nos presenta distintos aspectos de la amplia temática y técnicas de este escritor. Asimismo, se haya subyacente la teoría de la mente que explora los pensamientos de otros. MacEwan se interesa por los estados mentales, articulandola psicología con la ficción.Estanovela se sitúa en los borrososlímites del relato, en el juego de los géneros y de los experimentos narrativos, sin desdeñar los acontecimientos históricos del presente.Luego del descreimiento del realismo, el desencanto con el modernismo, el estatuto ficticio es cuestionado al rechazar las formas que corresponden a una representación ordenada de la realidad, a la omnisciencia y a la caracterización de los personajes, situándose este relato metaficcional en los límites de la narración.

The chosen novel by Ian McEwan, Nutshell,presents us different aspects of wide subjects and techniques of this writer. In addition, the theory of mind is underlying exploringothers’thoughts. McEwan is interested about mind states, bringing psychology up to date with fiction. This novel stands in the fuzzy limits of the story, in the play of the genres and narrative experiments, without disregarding the historical events of the present. After the disbelief of realism, the disenchantment of modernism, the fictitious status is questioned by rejecting the forms that correspond to an ordered representation of reality, to omniscience and characterization of the characters, placing this metafictional story at the bounds of the narrative.
